My gt-gt-gt-grandfather was one Nathaniel Guthrie who died ca. 1832 whereabouts unknown, but probably in NW Alabama. I believe he moved from Halifax Co., Virginia about 1815-1820. He probably lived for a while in Lauderdale Co., Alabama. He had as least two sons. One, born about 1801, John Guthrie evidently lived and died(1870) in Alabama, but all of his descendants moved to Oklahoma around 1890. The second son William Guthrie (b. 1818) lived most of his live in Colbert Co., Alabama. His grave is in the Margarum Cemetery. John lived during the 1840's, 50's and 60's. I need information about Nathaniel especially his parents.

Searching for information on William Snoddy (b: 1789 in TN) who migrated to Lauderdale Co, AL. On Nov 2, 1818, he deeded property in Lincoln County to his brother, David. From Lincoln County he migrated to Lauderdale County, Alabama, where on July 27, 1820, he married Elizabeth Mumford Fuqua, the daughter of Archibald Fuqua. They had three boys (William Giles b&d: 1822; Thomas Archie b: 1823; and David b: 1824). On Feb 28, 1821, William purchased land from George Coalter in Lauderdale County. On May 22, 1822, he was commissioned into the Alabama state militia (1st Division, 2nd Brigade, 10th Regiment) from Franklin County, Alabama. On Dec 21, 1824, he deeded property in Lincoln County, Tennessee to his brother, David, and on March 30, 1825, he purchased property on the Elk River in Lauderdale County, Alabama. During this time, William and his brother, Adam, went into business. They ran a ferry business, a cotton gin, and a general store. William signed his will on April 7, 1825 and it was proven on May 11, 1825 by his brother, Graham, who was living in Lincoln County at that time. William's sons (Thomas Archie 2 years old and David 1 year old then) were assigned to a guardian, John Donahoo (their Aunt Mary Fuqua Donahoo's husband). Their mother remarried in 1830 to William T. Smith and left them with John and Mary Donahoo. They were ages 6 and 7 at that time. Later, when Thomas Archie and David were older, they were overseers for members of the Fuqua family.

Am searching for information on JOHN CARLISLE. JOHN CARLISLE was b. in late 1810, I believe in Halifax co, NC. He left NC before 1830 and went to Bedford Co, TN. With him on the 1830 TN census is one male, ten - fifteen, and one female, ten - fifteen. I believe these to be siblings. They're still there in 1832. JOHN CARLISLE married MATILDA OPHELIA PERRY in TN, b. 1819, in AL. Her parents were WILLIAM PERRY, b. 1797, KY, and JANE STANFORD, b. ca 1799, SC. In 1840, JOHN and MATILDA were in Marion Co, AL, living very close to ELIJAH and WILLIAM STANFORD. (The STANFORDS had left Giles Co, TN around 1808, and settled in what was Marion Co at that time.) Living with them was: One male - under five One female - under five One male - ten - fifteen One female - five - ten One male - thirty - forty Two females - ten - fifteen One female - fifteen - twenty One female - thirty to forty The ten - fifteen yr old male (brother?) that was with him in TN in 1830, is not shown. Wheather he went to AL with JOHN, is unknown. I believe the female, fifteen - twenty, is the same (sister?) shown with him in 1830. But who are the other two females (ten - fifteen)???? JOHN and MATILDA had four more children in AL. Twins, JAMES NEWTON and JASPER G., b. 1842. MALISSA JANE, b. 1844, and my g.father, FRANCIS MARION, b. 1846. By 1850, the family is in Chocktaw Co, MS, where HARLEY FRANKLIN was b. that year. MATILDA died sometime in the last three months of 1850. Her mother, JANE STANFORD PERRY, died after 1880. WILLIAM PERRY died in 1852 in MS, of the "flux". The finding of other children in the CARLISLE household in 1840, came as a surprise to me. I knew one child had been b. bef. they left TN (WILLIAM), but did not know of any daughters. I had looked at this census several times, but because of the additional children, I passed it over. I've only recently learned of the STANFORDS, and MARION CO, AL, so back census I went! If ANYONE can tell me who the other children are, and who JOHN'S brother and sister were, I would be MOST greatful!!! I would also love to know where JOHN'S father was born. He indicated on the 1850 census that he was of foreign birth. CAN YOU HELP???? Thanks so much.

I am looking for information about my g-grandfather Hinkle Henry AUSTIN. He was born in 1894 and I don't know when he died. He was born in Hardin County TN, and lived in Lauderdale County after 1900 until his death (which could be after 1929). He was the son of Andrew J AUSTIN and Loula MCDANIEL. He married Mary Ida HAYES (my g-grandmother) 2/22/1913 and divorced 5/25/1923. Out of this marriage came my grandmother,Lillie born 8/17/1918. He then went on to marry Ada OLIVER 3/01/1925 and then 12/30/1929 he married Mary WISDOM. I don't have any other info on him and would really like to know whatever became of him. I had always thought he died, but was glad to know that he was only divorced from my g-grandmother. It was a shock to learn he hadn't died back in 1923. Any help would be appreciated.
