Location:  From Florence, go N on AL 20; Lt on CR 2 about 4 m. Rt on a farm road after passing CR 137 about 0.4 m.  The single monument is in the edge of the woods to your Lt, surrounded by a wrought iron fence.  The monument is about 10 feet tall.      

 

The 1840 Census lists John, Temperance & daughter Temperance. 000001-01000001    

 

The 1850 Census provides the following:  

      John Peters                     48 yrs  VA  Farmer            
      Temperence Haley Peters  17 yrs  NC            
            
John is living alone in the 1860 Census.
